Learning support
Learning support at City University London from the Learning Success team consists of four services: Disability Services, Dyslexia Support, Mental Health and Wellbeing, and Academic Learning Support.
Disability Services
The Disability Service offers advice, guidance and support. We offer one-to-one consultations during which we can discuss:
- Legal Entitlements
- How your disability is affecting your studies
- What adjustments can be made to enable you to get the most out of your studies
- Special Examination arrangements where applicable
- Liaisons with academic staff, hall mangers, library staff, etc. to ensure support is put in place
- Funding options that may be available to assist with your additional support needs
- Organising support workers where applicable.
Dyslexia Support
The Dyslexia Service provides assistance for students with dyslexia and other Specific Learning Difficulties. Services offered include:
- Dyslexia screenings
- Full dyslexia assessments
- Needs assessments
- Specialist one-to-one support
- Advice on dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties
- Information on funding that may be available to assist with your study needs
- Special Examination arrangements where applicable
- Liaising with academic staff, hall managers, library staff, etc. to ensure support is put in place.
Mental Health and Wellbeing
We offer one-to-one support with a Mental Health and Wellbeing advisor. This support may include emotional and practical support, liaisons with external agencies, advice and advocacy with all aspects of University life and/or regular mentoring sessions.
Academic Learning Support
The Academic Learning Support Service aims to help develop students' skills so that they can learn more effectively. The range of help includes study skills, writing skills, time management and revision and examination techniques. A range of workshops are held throughout the year on study skills related topics. Please note that proof reading and English language support is not offered by the service.
