Award recognition for City journalists
XCity and XCity Life, magazines which are produced by City's MA Magazine Journalism students, have been nominated in the 'Best New Student Magazine' category of this year's Professional Publishers Association (PPA) Magazine Academy competition. Two of the students' ideas for new magazines were also shortlisted - one for beer lovers, The Barrel, and one for young parents, Hatch.
The Magazine Academy competition is open to anyone studying on a PPA accredited journalism course and challenges students to create a brand new magazine, propose an innovative magazine concept, or put forward ideas for a new digital product.
The entries are judged by a panel of industry experts, with the winner having their magazine professionally printed by Polestar and distributed by the PPA to publishers across the industry.
Barbara Rowlands, Director of City's MA Magazine Journalism course, said: "I'm thrilled that these magazines and concepts have been shortlisted. It's a testament to the students' hard work and willingness to push themselves and not accept second best."
Winners will be announced at The Brewery, London on 17th October.
