McDermott Will & Emery launch an internship at The City Law School
McDermott Will & Emery LLP is the latest leading international law firm to offer City LLM students an internship. This is a major opportunity for students interested in a career in international litigation law to work with the cutting edge international arbitration lawyers based in the MWE's Frankfurt office.
The three month International Litigation Internship is available for an LLM student specialising in City Law School's courses in International Arbitration, Public International Law, International Energy Litigation, World Trade Law and Admiralty Law. The selected student will have exposure to a number of the most high profile multi-state arbitration cases and the opportunity to develop an understanding of the daily operations of a successful international law firm.
Professor Carl Stychin, Dean of The City Law School commented: "The City Law School is delighted that MWE has agreed to provide this internship. It will provide the winning LLM student with a flying to start to a legal career in international commercial litigation".
Students taking the relevant LLM International Commercial Law courses in the first term will be eligible to enter the competition for the MWE internship prize. The prize will be awarded based on a selection of students scoring the highest marks in the coursework. Finalists will be interviewed in March 2013 by a team from MWE.
The internship will run from the beginning of May to the end of July 2013. To support the student in Frankfurt during his/her internship, MWE will provide a scholarship for the full three months of the internship. The City Law School will also provide an automatic extension of two months for completion of the LLM dissertation to the successful student.
McDermott Will & Emery LLP joins three other global law firms who have partnered City University London to offer students taking the LLM in International Commercial Law the opportunity to apply for internships. Sidley Austin LLP and Shearman & Sterling LLP are each offering three month internships with their Brussels offices, while Stibbe are offering a placement with its EU and Competition Law practice group based in Amsterdam.
