Science and Instrumentation of Computer Tomography CPD
Computed Tomography uses ionising radiation to produce sectional images of the body. In order to operate the equipment in a safe and competent manner you must be equipped with the appropriate knowledge of science and instrumentation.
This will allow you to understand the hazards involved in this speciality and how to operate the equipment safely and thus select the most appropriate imaging parameters for each individual patient's condition and diagnostic problem.
The module requires 6 days attendance at University (from 09.00 to 16.00 with one hour for lunch) on the following dates:

Eligibility
- Honours degree in Radiography or other health related subject
- Appropriate professional qualifications e.g. Diploma of the College of Radiographers.
English Requirements
For those students whose first language is not English one of the following qualifications is also required:- IELTS: 7
- TOEFL (internet-based): 100
What will I learn?
The module will enable you to:- Understand the principles of Computed Tomography and associated instrumentation so that you can apply this knowledge to the clinical situation and become a confident, reflective and critically aware practitioner
- Provide a quality service and contribute to the advancement of Computed Tomography.
Teaching and Assessment
Teaching methods include lectures, tutorials, seminars, demonstrations, workshops and problem-solving sessions.
Assessment for the module consists of an exam and a written assignment.
