Leadership CPD
The module addresses the impact of effective leadership on healthcare outcomes. It provides an overview of the concepts of leadership within a healthcare context.
The three themes on which the module is based are:
- Individual leadership
- Leading teams
- Organisational leadership.

Eligibility
Entry requirements for BSc Health Sciences (online) programme:- 120 Level 1 credit points and 120 Level 2 credit points in healthcare-related subjects
- Current registration with a professional and regulatory body (healthcare)
English Requirements
For those students whose first language is not English one of the following qualifications is also required:- GCSE English Language at Grade C or above
- IELTS: 6.0
What will I learn?
The module will enable you to:- Analyse the effectiveness of different leadership styles within a variety of healthcare settings
- Critically evaluate the effectiveness of your own leadership style, identifying leadership qualities and areas for development
- Discuss how teams work and explain the factors that impact on team working
- Evaluate the leadership strategies employed within your own organisation and the impact of these
- Critically evaluate the impact of complex environments on leadership behaviour
- Develop a greater understanding of your own work environment as part of a wider system.
Teaching and Assessment
Mode of deliveryTeaching methods include online seminars which include interactive applications, online discussions and other opportunities for reflection on how theories are linked to practice.
Assessment
Assessment for the module consists of a two-part assignment comprising a personal development plan (PDP) (1500 words) and a supporting reflective essay of 1500 words. These should be your own individual work.
