Clearing
Clearing has now closed at City University London.
The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS) carries out a process known as Clearing every summer for students who have results different to those predicted. This process is open to all applicants who have a UCAS 'Track Account'. Further information about the process is available at www.ucas.ac.uk including full listings of vacancies available at all institutions.
Clearing is a frenetic process for all involved; decisions are made quickly and it is fast paced. Our staff have managed Clearing successfully for many years and our aim is to ensure your experience is as stress-free as we can make it. We recognise this is an important time in your life and want to ensure you are about to make a decision you are happy with.
Adjustment
A process called Adjustment applies when you have exceeded the conditions of your original offer. With Adjustment you are able to consider universities with higher entry requirements whilst preserving your current place and do not need to go immediately into Clearing. If you fall into this category, then you should contact the institution(s) you are interested in quickly to talk to them and discuss alternatives to the application you have already made through UCAS.
Clearing
Clearing is for those who have not achieved the results they were expecting. Last year over 40,000 students were successful in obtaining a place at university through Clearing. If your grades are lower than expected, you may still be able to take the place you were offered and the admissions tutor for your course will make an individual assessment of your application. You should check your application on the UCAS website or contact the university directly.
