Football

"Football is more than just a sport. It is a language. In our football team we have players from different background and cultures representing countries all around the world. From the United States of America to Yemen, we are proud to have such a multicultural band of players that all love and breathe football. We play in a very intense league with some excellent universities that share the same drive and competitiveness as we do.

The men’s 1st team at City is carefully selected; this doesn’t mean we want robots that only know how to play football. We are after the full package. We want players that are teammates off the pitch as well, are social and most importantly, embodying the true meaning of the word ‘team’.

Join the men’s 1st football team if you’re willing to push yourself for greatness on the pitch and character development off it as well. We win, lose and draw as a team. (But mostly win)" – Men’s 1st Team Captain

“The beautiful game is, I trust, everybody's favourite sport, so players of all levels are welcome to attend trials in September. I would strongly encourage anybody who enjoys playing to try out for the team as it is something I (and hopefully the rest of the team!) have really enjoyed doing over the last two years. With weekly socials, it is a really fun and welcoming environment to meet people in, while keeping fit and providing an outlet to your competitive edge, which so many people stop doing having taken part in competitive sport at school or college.

"For the last two seasons, we have come so close to promotion, losing out to Queen Mary's and University of the Arts respectively, so if you think you have what it takes to make the crucial difference, we would love to have you!” - Men’s 2nd Team Captain

"The Women's Football Team had an extraordinary season in 2017/18 by winning 100% of our league games and only losing one game all season. We won our league (of course!), made it to the cup quarter finals and made our debut at Varsity, winning convincingly with a 5-1 score line. What made our successes all the more extraordinary was that this was our first season playing together and so we can't wait to see what 2018/19 has in store for us as we look to build on these triumphs. We're also a friendly bunch who never say no to a social: from dinners to drinks and dancing at CityBar, there's a social for everyone and we'll be there! So don't miss out on joining one of the most successful and exciting sporting families in the City Wolfpack - we'll see you at trials!" - Women's Team Captain
