RISES-Recognising Individual Staff Education Success

The RISES programme provides a CPD route to gaining HEA fellowship from Associate Fellow through to Principal Fellow.

RISES route to HEA Fellowship

City’s RISES programme offers you an opportunity to gain recognition as Associate Fellow, Fellow, Senior Fellow or Principal Fellow of Advance HE. These awards demonstrate a commitment to teaching and learning and are increasingly sought by employers across the education sector as a condition of appointment and promotion.

RISES is open to you if you are a full or part time academic or professional services staff member at City, University of London and your role includes learning and teaching or supporting learning and teaching.  You work with a mentor to prepare a written application mapping your practice against the dimensions of Advance HE’s Professional Standard Framework

RISES Introductory workshops - available online via Teams or  in-person

You can find out more about RISES by signing up for one of our one-hour introductory workshops at which you will be able to find out more about the process, the Professional Standards Framework and which level of fellowship is right for you.  After you have attended an introductory workshop you will be able to register for the programme, talk to your mentor and access our online resources.

Writing workshops – dates for 2023/24

Our popular RISES writing Workshops will be returning from September 2023.

Writing workshops provide applicants on the RISES programme with space and time to develop applications for recognition as fellows of Advance HE.  Members of the RISES team will be available to answer questions and read drafts and there will be opportunities to share and discuss work in progress with fellow applicants.

Please note that, to participate in these sessions, you need to have attended an introductory RISES workshop so that you know which category of fellowship you are aiming towards, and you need to have formally registered for the programme using the form on the RISES Moodle module.

If you are interested in attending one of these workshops, please complete the booking form via the link below. Once this is completed an online event URL will be sent to you in an email confirming your registration and you can add this to your outlook calendar.

If you don’t receive this, please contact RISES@city.ac.uk
