Law

This is studying in the heart of legal London. This is learning from over 150 years of leading legal education. This is The City Law School.

Our graduates have been shaping the boundaries of society for over a century; they have gone on to lead nations, influence global corporate policies and successfully represent clients in courts of law around the world. Our longstanding ties with The Inns of Court and the heritage of The Inns of Court School of Law (founded 1852 and merged with the University in 2001) make City one of the most prominent education institutions for law in London. At City, practitioners are offered the unique opportunity to undertake their complete legal education in one place; from undergraduate studies through to professional training.

Courses and study

City offers courses in law at undergraduate, postgraduate and research degree levels, as well as professional qualifications and continuing professional development courses. We cover all major areas of law, with specialisms including: criminal & civil litigation; maritime law; international commercial, business & competition law; EU commercial law; and international banking & finance.

Our courses are validated by relevant professional bodies, such as the Bar Standards Board and the Solicitors Regulation Authority.

In addition to our course offering, students are given the opportunity to gain hands-on legal experience by volunteering in the City Law School's Pro Bono and Free Representation Units

The primary purpose of this research is creating value for society, both locally (in London and the UK) and globally.

Location

The City Law School is located in one of the most affluent legal districts in the world. This ensures our students are in close proximity to the law courts, the Inns of Courts and a plethora of city firms and chambers throughout their studies.

We are currently building a brand new home for the City Law School at Sebastian Street which will open its doors in 2020. This impressive facility, set in the heart of the Northampton Square campus, contains modern classrooms and dynamic social spaces which complement The City Law School’s forward thinking approach to teaching and learning.
