Instalment scheme

City, University of London has a two-part instalment scheme for the payment of tuition fees.

If you have sufficient funds available to pay your year's fees in full at or before registration, we would strongly advise you do so to avoid possible financial problems later in the year.

If you are planning to apply for the Postgraduate Loan Scheme, you will need to ensure that you send a copy of your Postgraduate Loan Summary agreement from SFE to Registration-Finance@city.ac.uk prior to attempting online registration.

When are the instalments due to be paid?

All self paying, new and continuing students can pay their annual tuition fee in two equal instalments.

Students who are following the normal academic year (registration in August, September or October), in order to complete registration and re-registration, must pay the first instalment of their annual tuition fee, and also provide us with financial details for us to collect the second instalment on the last working day of the following January. You can do this when you register online.

If you are following a different pattern of study, the first instalment must be paid when registering and the second on the last working day of the third completed month after registering.

What methods of payment can I use?

You can pay the first instalment of your fees by cheque, by credit/debit card or by bank transfer, but you must also provide us with your debit/credit card details to collect the second instalment on the last working day of the following January. This is perfectly secure and you can set this up when you register or re-register online.

If you choose to pay by debit or credit card and provide us with your debit or credit card details for your second instalment, the first instalment will be charged to your debit/credit card on the same day, and the second instalment will automatically be charged to your debit/credit card on the last working day of the following January. This is the simplest form of paying your annual tuition fees and you can set this up when you register or re-register online.

City does not offer a discount for payment in full at registration and nor does it charge an administrative fee for payment by instalment. However, we reserve the right to levy interest and administrative charges for late payment of any of the instalments.
