The Worshipful Company of Saddlers’ Undergraduate Bursaries

The Worshipful Company of Saddlers is one of the very oldest of the City of London Livery companies. Today, the Saddlers' Company still has a close interest in, and involvement with, its original trade. These bursaries are air marked at final year undergraduate students from low household incomes who have achieved 70% or above in their 2nd year of study.

Eligibility criteria

  • Undergraduate in their final year of study during 2019/20;
  • Household income between £0 and £25,000 as assessed by Student Finance England or in receipt full NHS Bursary;
  • Achieved 70% or above overall in in 2nd year (or 3rd year for students on 4-year undergraduate courses);
  • Priority will be given to students who are ordinarily resident in London.

Bursary Value

£2,500 for 1 year only

Paid in three instalments.

Three bursaries are available for 2019/20.

Application and deadline

The online application form must be submitted on/before 30 September 2019.

Applicants on the following courses Nursing, Midwifery, Radiography and Speech and Language Therapy must submit a photocopy of their full NHS Bursary Entitlement Letter 2019/20.

Late and/or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Selection and Notification

Applications will be assessed on the basis of financial hardship and academic merit. Shortlisting will be conducted by a panel consisting of both academic and professional staff.  Short-listed applicants may be required to provide further information and/or attend an interview. The panel’s decision will be final and cannot be appealed. Bursary recipients are expected to attend the University Scholarship Evening Spring 2020 and the Worshipful Company Dinners (to be held on 21st November 2019 and 10th February 2020).
