The Cunningham Undergraduate Bursary

The Cunningham Undergraduate Bursary is a generous bursary providing £4,000 per academic year towards maintenance. The bursary is aimed at undergraduates from low household incomes who have achieved outstanding results in their A’ Levels or equivalent qualifications. There is one bursary to be awarded in 2019/20 worth £4,000 each for a maximum of three years.

Eligibility criteria:

  1. First year undergraduate starting year 1 during 2019/20;
  2. Household income between £0 and £20,000 as assessed by Student Finance England by 31st October 2019;
  3. Achieved grades AAA or above in A' Levels (or equivalent UK qualifications);
  4. Ordinarily resident in the UK.

Application and Deadline:

Online application form must be submitted by 31st October 2019.

Applicants must be means tested by Student Finance England and have this information share with City by 31st October 2019 – late and incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Selection and Notification:

Applications will be assessed on the basis of financial hardship and academic merit. Shortlisting will be conducted by a panel consisting of both academic and professional staff.  Short-listed applicants may be required to provide further information and/or attend an interview. The panel’s decision will be final and cannot be appealed. All applicants will be contacted by 31st January 2020. Awardees are expected to attend the annual City Scholarship Evening starting from Spring 2020.
