BMus Performance Scholarship

The BMus Performance Scholarship is a merit-based scholarship worth up to £2,000 available to applicants for the BMus (Hons) Music undergraduate course.

We advise students to apply by 31st January 2020, though applications after this date will still be considered. After this date we will contact offer holders who have expressed an interest in the scholarship and invite them to select a preferred audition date. The auditions (which can be conducted remotely, using Skype or other software) will be conducted by members of the Department of Music. All applicants will be notified of the results before the UCAS decision deadline (6th May 2020).

Those auditioning should present three pieces in contrasting styles and/or from different historical periods. Auditions typically last 15 minutes, so applicants may be occasionally stopped during a piece. Auditions for pianists, who will usually be required to do some accompaniment work, will also involve a sight-reading component.

Scholars are expected to be leaders in their respective fields throughout their BMus studies, and actively contribute to, and enhance, the musical life of the department and the University. The scholarship will therefore continue to be awarded for the duration of the BMus degree, subject to satisfactory academic progression and successful fulfilment of the scholar's leadership role.
