Applications for degree courses must be made through the Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS). You can apply through your school or college using the Apply system, which enables you to submit your application directly to the UCAS website.
You can apply to up to five universities or institutions on the form. The UCAS code for City, University of London is C60.

UCAS has implemented an ‘invisibility of choices’ policy so that, on the initial application and while you are receiving decisions, each institution can see only their entry and not those of other institutions you have chosen. The engineering design project was set up for teams of undergraduate mechanical, aeronautics, electrical and electronic engineering students to design, build and demonstrate a tennis ball serving machine that uses a standard liquid CO2 3kg bottle as source of energy.

Grades obtained in each year count towards the final degree classification, with increasing weight given to the later years.

Year one is common to all of the engineering courses. Students study the science (largely physics) and mathematics that underpin engineering principles. They are also instructed in how to develop computer program, a skill that is evermore relevant and valuable. Group exercises provide students with the opportunities to undertake preliminary engineering designs.
Students begin to specialise in year two, advancing their knowledge of solid and fluid mechanics while also studying measurement, data analysis and mechatronics. Students registered on the BEng degree, who average at least 60 per cent at the end of year two, are encouraged to transfer to the MEng degree.
The third year places increasing emphasis on mechanical design.

Most contact hours will take the form of lectures, interactive sessions, practical workshops and small group classes, supported by a personal tutorial system. The number will decrease as you progress and you become more able to direct your own learning.

These engineers are involved in areas as diverse as product development, advanced computer-based design, analysis of complex thermo-fluid systems, robotics, energy conservation, maintenance, decommissioning and engineering management.
