This intensive three-day journalism skills course in food and feature writing is aimed at those interested in writing and getting published as a features journalist.

Led by an experienced journalist, the course focuses on the skills required to help you get feature articles published in magazines, newspapers and online (blogs and digital content) from developing an initial idea right through to publication.

You will improve your reporting and research skills to identify a good story, pitch it to an editor and get it published online or in print and learn the skills involved in working as a freelance journalist.

Delivered in a short intensive burst over three days and taught from our central London location, the course offers expert tuition and the flexibility of part-time study.

Course overview

This is a highly practical course which will cover food and feature writing, pitching ideas, exploring outlets, interview skills, reviews, writing to a formula and social networking.

You will be expected to share your written work with the group as well as with the tutor and give and receive feedback in class. Skills covered in the course include interviewing and reporting, integrating facts and accessing creativity. In addition to writing about food, topics covered may also include any that you wish to bring, e.g. health or travel.

Please note this is a course for those interested in getting published as a journalist. It is not suitable for those looking to publish short stories, novels or poetry.

This course is not suitable for those wishing to improve their English.
