Course overview

This module aims to equip health and social care practitioners with the knowledge base, skills and competencies that will enable you to lead and deliver high quality care for older people (including those with dementia).

The module seeks to enhance your understanding and application of theoretical concepts and a range of evidence to guide practice improvement.

Prerequisite knowledge

Overseas students can only apply as part of a programme, not as a stand-alone module

  • A current professional registration with a relevant professional/statutory body or equivalent
  • At least one years' relevant clinical experience as a health or social care practitioner
  • A satisfactory academic reference and a satisfactory clinical reference.

English requirements

For those students whose first language is not English one of the following qualifications is also required:

  • IELTS: 7.0

    Professor Julienne Meyer CBE retired in September 2019 and now holds an Emeritus position. She is a former registered nurse and qualified teacher, who led Research and Development in Care for Older People at City, University of London.
