Course overview

This half-day course focuses primarily on recognising and understanding the main difficulties of those with dementia and their carers, and accessing resources to help.

The course covers:

  • Exploring normal and abnormal ageing processes
  • Attitudes, prejudices and fears
  • Different kinds of dementias: signs and symptoms, treatment options
  • Risks and dangers
  • Resources for helping those with dementia and their carers
  • Effective communication and strategies for managing some common problems for those with dementia

Prerequisite knowledge

Qualified Healthcare professionals, support staff and healthcare assistants in NHS Trusts, GP surgeries, Private hospitals and Care Homes.

English requirements

Applicants must be proficient in spoken and written English.
