Course overview

The module focuses on areas of knowledge and understanding which underpin the nursing care required by the intensive care patient as well as respiratory compromise and respiratory support.

Assessment strategies will be explored as will ethical principles which support intensive care.

This is a 15 credit module.

Prerequisite knowledge

Non EEA students can only apply as part of a programme, not as a stand-alone module.

  • You must have at least 10 months experience of working within intensive care and be currently working in an intensive care unit.
  • Have a clinical mentor.

English requirements

For those students whose first language is not English, the following qualification is also required:

  • IELTS: 7.0
