Unconditional Offer Scheme

Our Unconditional Offer Scheme is intended to reward applicants who have demonstrated exceptional academic ability and promise in their UCAS application. To be selected for the scheme shows our confidence in an applicant's contribution to City and their subject of choice.

In order to target those with impressive background, recommendation and potential, a small number of candidates will be selected for the Unconditional Offer Scheme in advance of them completing their examinations. These applicants will receive confirmation of this in writing and will typically be required to select City as their 'firm' choice in order to take up the offer.

Who can receive an Unconditional Offer?

We're looking for candidates with an excellent proven academic record and who demonstrate outstanding promise. The Admissions Tutor will carefully consider your previous performance, your Personal Statement, the Reference and your predicted grades.

The scheme does not include all courses across City and for 2019 the scheme will be operating in parts of the School of Arts and Social Sciences and the School of Health Sciences.

Because of UKVI requirements we are unable to extend the scheme to applicants who require a visa. We do not make Unconditional Offers under the scheme to those taking a gap year.

Deciding to accept an Unconditional Offer

The initial offer you receive will be Conditional. It will be updated to Unconditional if you choose City, University of London as your Firm choice through UCAS.

When you do this, you will be committing yourself to City and declining all your other choices. You will not be able to change your course or defer your place, as the Unconditional Offer only applies to the course and application year you have chosen. As such, you should be sure that you are making the right decision. If you have any enquiries about this, you can contact our Admissions Office.

The only deadlines are those already set by the UCAS scheme. You would normally be expected to wait until you have had decisions from all of your choices before choosing to commit to one offer.

Getting your predicted grades

If you don't get your predicted grades, the Unconditional Offer will still stand and your place will be secured. You will have been selected for the scheme because of your outstanding academic record.

We hope that having an Unconditional Offer will take the worry out of your application process and allow you to concentrate on achieving the best grades that you can.

Do you have to join the Unconditional Offer scheme?

You don't have to take up the option of an Unconditional Offer. In the email you will receive from us, there will be a form you can complete if you do not wish to join the scheme and you would like to continue with a Conditional Offer.

You can still choose City as an Insurance choice through UCAS. If you do so, your offer will remain Conditional.

Eligibility for scholarships

Most of the Scholarships are only awarded to applicants who attain very high grades. As such, the incentive is still there to continue to work to achieve excellent results. Details of all City, University of London Scholarships and the eligibility criteria can be found on our index of scholarships and other funding.
