Before your exams
Prepare, Plan & Succeed
We know that taking examinations can be very stressful and we want to ensure that you are aware of the support available to you as you prepare for them. Support is available to help you plan your revision, develop your examination technique and manage any stress or anxiety you may have.
Past Examination Papers
Your programme may make available past examination papers to help you prepare. Policy on this differs across the University, so contact your Course Officer who will be able to assist you. Likewise, programme teams offer advice and support to help you make the most of your revision and ensure you are fully prepared. This advice and support is tailored for each subject so make sure that you familiarise yourself with what your programme is offering.
You can find advice on how to revise effectively by searching the web. We have found some sites which you might find helpful. The Guardian newspaper wrote this article about how to improve your grades. There’s also this WikiHow page on revising successfully.
Keeping Fit and Well
It’s important that you stay fit and well during your revision period and throughout your exams. The BBC has some useful information on eating to improve your exam performance and they also have some nice recipes for eating on an exam day and also some breakfast recipes
Academic Learning Support
The Academic Learning Support team offers a number of services which can help you improve your revision and examination technique. They offer both one-to-one academic skills tutorials as well as group workshops focusing on specific topics. Have a look at their webpage for all the services and support they offer.
