Mammography is a specialised area of medical imaging that focuses on the use of X-ray technology to examine the breasts for early detection of breast cancer and other abnormalities.
At City St George’s, University of London, our students can pursue training in mammography as part of a broader programme in medical imaging or radiography, with a strong focus on patient care, diagnostic skills, and the latest imaging technologies.
Our mammography programmes include the Postgraduate Certificate Mammography, or the Advanced Breast Practice programme and combine the clinical and academic skills to meet the current and future workforce demands of the healthcare sector. They provide specialist expertise in advanced breast practice, breast imaging and practice education.
Career perspectives
Graduates of the Mammography programme can work as specialist mammographers in hospitals, breast cancer screening clinics, or private healthcare settings.
Many also take on roles in clinical leadership, education, or researchers in breast imaging.
The Advanced Breast Practice programme provides the opportunity and support needed to develop into becoming Consultant Mammographers and Advanced Practitioners.
