This scholarship, initiated by non-fiction author, City alumnus and tutor Ciaran Thapar, is aimed at widening access for young writers to his ‘Writing for Social Impact’ short course at City.
The course will take place across the mornings of Friday 20th and Saturday 21st May 2022.
Applications for this scholarship are available to undergraduate alumni of The Access Project, a charity which supports students from disadvantaged backgrounds to access top universities.
All applications will be read and assessed by writer and tutor Ciaran Thapar. The successful candidate will be announced on 29th April 2022.
The scholarship covers the £120 tuition fee of the Writing for Social Impact Short Course for one student.
Eligibility criteria
Applications for the scholarship will be welcomed from theose who meet the following criteria:
- Are an alumnus of The Access Project. This means you must have participated in their tuition and in-school support programme prior to your degree and are now registered as part of their alumni network.
- Aged 18 to 25 as of the course start date
- Began studying your degree in either 2021, 2020 or 2019
- Has an intrigue and understanding about how writing can achieve social impact.
How to apply
Applicants to Writing for Social Impact should fill in application form where they will be required to answer a series of questions to demonstrable enthusiasm for attending this writing short course.
Application deadline
The deadline for applications to the ‘Writing for Social Impact’ scholarship is midday 25th April 2022.
The successful applicant will be announced by 5pm on Friday 29th April 2022 and will be notified by email.
