Zonaah Tariq

Zonaah Tariq is a third year LLB (Hons) Law student who found her place at City, University of London through Adjustment.

Did you always know you wanted to go to university?

All of my family have been to university so it was almost like a norm to me, I have never second guessed or had a second thought about it. Although I know that a lot of my friends are the first generation to go to university, which I feel very proud about for them.

Were you aware of Clearing before applying?

Yes, my tutorial teacher as well as my dad told me about clearing before I applied.

Why did you go through Clearing?

I got better grades than expected so I decided to take advantage of the opportunity to apply to City through Adjustment.

How did you find the process of applying through Adjustment?

I found it so easy and comfortable. The person that I spoke with on the phone was very easy going and made me feel very calm.

Why did you choose to apply to City?

I went to an Open Day and loved the campus (especially the separate Law building block and library.) My sister also went City and she couldn’t recommend it enough.

How did you feel about going through Adjustment at the time?

I felt nervous as I was worried that maybe the course I wanted would be full.

How do you feel about Clearing and Adjustment now?

I feel amazing. I now take part in the Clearing process each year, but on the other side as the person answering calls on behalf of City.

How have you found your time on the course?

It’s been amazing! I’ve just got a 1st in my 2nd year and I feel really proud.

What do you want to do in the future?

I would love to become a barrister.

What would you say to a prospective City student about to go through Clearing and Adjustment?

I would say that you don’t need to worry and the person on the phone will make you feel really comfortable.
