Journalism BA (Hons)

I believe the Professional Mentoring Scheme is just the beginning of a long journey towards your better future

Graduation date: 2016

Why did you decide to join the Professional Mentoring Scheme?

I was fascinated by the idea to meet an inspirational professional in my field who can help me take my first steps in journalism.

What did you enjoy most about it?

Those moments when my mentor acted not as a cold and strictly professional individual, but as a friend who can step into my shoes and understand my problems and needs.

How did your mentor help you to develop your skills and future employability?

We have edited together my CV. I have received a lot of feedback from her in terms of presentation during interview. Moreover, she took me to her work place where I was able to observe her work and exchange ideas. Thanks to her encouragement and enthusiasm, I secured an internship in a reputable news channel and also develop my own journalistic platform.

Why would you encourage other students to take part in the Professional Mentoring Scheme?

I believe the Professional Mentoring Scheme is just the beginning of a long journey towards your better future. Join the mentoring scheme if you want to receive a great support from top-class professionals in your field and have fun as well. Do not apply and change you future. Thalia and Taryn will take a really good care of you.

What do you want to do after university?

My aim is to become a broadcast journalist specialising in European affairs.
