'Looking back I can say with great confidence that studying Journalism at City has been one of the best choices that I could've made for myself'

Why did you choose to study at City, University of London?

There were a number of reasons. The facilities, for instance, made my job as student/journalist much easier. City offers radio and TV studios, news rooms, a massive library and plenty of social spaces where I spend my spare time between lectures. The campus is a vibrating, international environment where I got to meet people from all over the world, and it’s been incredibly enjoyable to share this journey with people who were in the same situation as me. After one year I feel more confident and aware of what is expected of me and I really look forward to continue this incredible learning experience!

What do you enjoy most about your course?

Looking back at this academic year I can say with great confidence that studying Journalism at City has been one of the best choices that I could've made for myself and for my career. The approach to the subject is very practical, although we are also provided with all the theoretical notions that we need to understand the subject. I have been initiated to Journalism in its broadest sense, getting a taste of both print and broadcast and their relative ramifications. I also enjoyed that staff were aware of our needs, and closely monitored and guided us in the learning process - they worked hard to understand each of our limits and our strengths, also welcoming our different personalities and creating a familiar atmosphere, making our days at university pleasant and motivating.

What has been a highlight of your course so far?

The course fits the needs of everyone: as a foreign student, I had little knowledge of the dynamics within British journalism and politics. Now however, I feel; that I have been given all the essential information that I need to begin my future as a journalist. City allowed for experience within various kinds of journalism which enabled me to develop clearer ideas, which resulted in me enjoying areas I had previously ignored. After one year, I am more aware of the role of journalists in society and the future of journalism in an era of technological transformation, especially since having discussed these topics with some of the greatest personalities within British Journalism.
