"Once you have completed a program like this, you feel like a warrior ready to embark on bigger challenges and take on the big wide world."
What was your most significant learning experience of the trip and why?
My most significant learning experience of the trip was that I could reflect on my progress and how I was able to grow more confidently. This experience had helped me to view and collaborate ideas more differently and creatively and be more enthusiastic when working in a team.
Why did you decide to participate in this experience?
I wanted to participate in this experience because it was quite different in terms of experience. I wanted to take something that will challenge me and motivate me to welcome new change and learn more about myself and my new peers that I had met on the trip. Additionally, this opportunity would help to boost my networking skills and help with future employment opportunities.
What surprised you about the experience, or something unexpected that you learned?
What surprised me about the experience was how much that you can gain and take in terms of information and memories, all in a short space of time. What I found that was unexpected is that sometimes people behave and carry themselves differently, due to the culture and I learned from this that is to be open-minded and resilient, as in the end, it forms a good friendship.
What would you recommend to others looking to take part in a Common Purpose Study Abroad programme?
I recommend to others who want to take part in this program to ask this question to yourself: how will this program help you? Once you have thought about this, go with an open mind, be very focused and motivated, and really try to spend time immersing yourself with the culture and history, learn some new skills, and complete the program. It will really go a long way, and honestly, once you have completed a program like this, you feel like a warrior ready to embark on bigger challenges and take on the big wide world!
