Maryam Farooqi

Your skills are constantly developed upon by volunteering within the community.

City, University of London

Maryam won Most Improved Widening Participation Student Ambassador at the 2015 Widening Participation Outreach Awards.

Graduation Date: 2016

Maryam became an Ambassador during her first year at University and over the last year has shown a significant increase in her attendance at events. She has received great feedback from the young people she has worked with, allowing them to recognise their potential and encouraging them to look forward to university.

Why would you recommend other students take part in Widening Participation Outreach?

It's enjoyable and a great way to give back to the community, as well as meeting new people. It's a new experience and your skills are constantly developed upon by volunteering on such projects within the community.

What do you want to do after university?

After I graduate, I want to work within the NGO (non-governmental organisations) and the charity sector, or follow on to do my LPC and become a qualified solicitor.
