Katie is a 1st year BSc Midwifery student. Before coming to City, she completed a degree in fashion design and worked in the industry.
What were you doing before you came to study at City?
I was working as a domiciliary care worker for people with complex health needs and the elderly. Before that I have completed a degree in Fashion Design and worked in industry.
Why did you decide to apply to study at City, University of London?
I wanted to study in London, as the experience of training as a midwife in London is second to none, and the University is in the center of London.
What is your favourite thing about studying at City?
The diversity of its students from age ranges to different social backgrounds and ethnicities. Everyone is so welcoming and this is reflected through the friends I have made on my course.
What kind of things are you involved in outside of your course?
I am the Programme Representative for my group within my year, a member of the Midwifery Society and am currently setting up a Women's Health society.
What do you plan to do after you graduate?
To become a registered midwife and continue to advocate for women, every day in every way.
What would be your top tip for our applicants?
Understand why you want to become a midwife and research the roles of the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the Royal College of Midwives.
