Jekaterina is a 2nd year BSc Accounting & Finance student. She is looking forward to completing her summer internship in Audit with Deloitte.
What were you doing before you came to study at Cass Business School?
After completing 11th year at school in Latvia, I moved to the UK. During my first year in the UK, I completed GCSE Maths and GCSE English. After that, I completed the Access to Higher Education in Social Science Diploma which opened me the doors to Cass.
Why did you decide to apply to study at Cass?
Cass is the top business school in Europe, and it has strong focus on employability. In addition, it is at the heart of London’s business centre which helps to develop connections with the top employers.
What is your favourite thing about studying at City and Cass?
Opportunities and diversity are two of my favourite things! City and Cass provide a lot of opportunities for development to the students, from scholarships to amazing career services. Moreover, City and Cass is full of bright student from all other the world. It is very exciting to meet people with different background and develop valuable, long-term connections.
What kind of things are you involved in outside your course?
I am a member of the City University Women’s Volleyball team. We compete with other universities in the UK and sometimes travel to other cities to play tournaments there.
I am a scholar and an executive board member of Cass Global Women’s Leadership Programme. I take part in developing different initiatives which empower women for leadership.
In addition, I am a member of Cass Student Experience and Teaching and Learning committees. This is an amazing opportunity to represent students’ voices and make positive impact to the overall student experience.
Have you had the opportunity to do any internships or placements?
During my first year, I have completed spring internship with EY. This year, I have received summer internship in Audit offers from EY and Deloitte. I have accepted the offer from Deloitte, and I am looking forward working with them this summer!
What do you plan to do after you graduate?
After completing my summer internship, I hope to receive a graduate offer in Audit from Deloitte. I hope to successfully pass professional exams and become a charted accountant at the end of the graduate scheme.

Every opportunity and experience are valuable! Make sure to demonstrate what transferable skills you have gained and how this makes you unique.
