Diar Alimohammadi

I lived in the UK for three years prior to starting at Cass Business School, and progressed to the University via the Bellerbys Foundation programme.

The high academic level, the focus on the profession and the possibility to undertake a one year work placement were just some of the reasons why I chose to study at City. I am currently a year two student of Management at Cass. The course structure really helps students to get a clearer vision of what to do in life. During the first year we get the opportunity to explore different subjects, before concentrating on a few elective ones in the following years. The optional one year work placement is a great opportunity to apply our skills and enhance our career prospects. Finally, the fourth year gives students the opportunity to gain further expertise on the areas they’ve already worked on.

There’s a wealth of clubs and societies, which are a great way to make friends and enhance our professional skills as well. For example, I am part of the debating society and am preparing to apply to City’s Start-up competition, City Launch Lab.

My suggestion to new starters is to go to fresher’s week at the beginning of the academic year. There’s activities up to 3am and it’s a fantastic way to network and make friends. Finally, it always feels great to introduce yourself as a Cass student, one of the top business schools!
