Anisa chose City's LLB because of it's location in the heart of London, providing access to law firm open days and work experience opportunities

Why did you choose to study the LLB?

I wanted to study the LLB because I knew it was intellectually challenging and I enjoy challenging topics. Also, I spoke to multiple students who were undertaking the LLB and I always heard how time consuming it was due to the reading list but yet how fulfilling the degree was. This motivated me to study the LLB as I enjoy reading hence I knew this degree was right for me.

Why did you choose The City Law School?

One of the reason I wanted to study at the City Law School was because of its location. City, University of London is in the heart of London which for me brings multiple opportunities such as attending open days at Law firms to undertaking multiple part time jobs.

What makes City unique?

City ensures that you have continuous support from the day you are offered a place at the University. It ensures that you have various support from having outstanding personal tutors to providing financial advice and career advice. City caters for every students needs from ensuring for example providing a place for students to pray to offering advice for mental health.

Did you take part in any extracurricular activities? (The student Law Society, mooting, pro bono, etc.)

I am a Widening Participation Ambassador which involves supporting students who come to the University in providing campus tours and assisting with activities. This role also enables me to go to local primary school and tutor small groups of students in order to prepare them for their upcoming exams. City, University of London not only considers their students need but also ensures that it gives back to society. Also, I am an Ambassador for the Students Union at City which has been a fulfilling and fun role to undertake. Occasionally, I assist in the Shop of the Student Union and this involves taking payments for the Union merchandise.

How has studying the LLB helped you to take the next steps in your career?

By studying the LLB it has helped me to take the next steps in my career because it has reaffirmed my choice for a career in Law. This degree will enable me to apply for future jobs, vacation scheme and training contract because by studying the LLB it has allowed me to gain the relevant skills needed.

What do you enjoy most about studying in London?

London provides you with numerous opportunities for students whether that’s going to the Museum or going to the local market with friends. By studying in London, it means there is endless amount of things to do.

What advice or tips would you give to future LLB students?

One of the tips that I would give to future LLB students is to make the most of your time at studying at City. This means when an opportunity comes around just undertake it because it can lead to a bigger thing for you in the future. Also, one of the biggest tips for future LLB students is make sure that you are organised and always on top of your work. I use my diary and my phone calendar to ensure that I get the relevant work done before lectures, workshops and tutorials.
