Alberto BonifacioAeronautical Engineering (MEng) MEng
Alberto Bonifacio was awarded an Aeronautics Centenary Scholarship at the Annual Scholarships, Prizes and Bursaries Evening, January 2013.
Where are you from?
British born, I grew up in Italy and decided to come back to the UK for university.
Why were you awarded the scholarship?
I was awarded the Aeronautics Centenary Scholarship for the overall exceptional achievements in my second year of study.
How has the scholarship helped you?
I received this scholarship at the right time in my university studies, as I started to understand more about the engineering field and how to plan in order to attain my goals. Not only is it a financial support, but it also gave me the boost I needed and more confidence in striving to achieve even more. It was a further acknowledgement of my efforts and it made me realise even more how passionate and grateful I am to have such an opportunity to study at a place like City.
What do you enjoy most about your course?
Having had the opportunity to study in two different countries, I realise how organised and professional City. University of London is. I enjoy the atmosphere of the Institution from the moment I walk in to when I leave. Each lecture is inspiring in a different way and there is a great relationship between students and lecturers which enhances the enthusiasm and spirit from both sides. Moreover, hard work and responsibility are always recognised. My favourite module has been Thermodynamics not only because I found the subject very interesting, but also the enthusiasm of the lecturer has made it much more exciting to follow.
What do you plan to do after you graduate?
As an Aeronautical Engineering student, my plan would be to continue along this path, either by specialising and doing a PhD, or by finding opportunities for work placements in the aeronautical or aerospace field to gain more experience. I have always been passionate in what I do and I believe that studying at City has given me not only a mature and genuine understanding of this field, but it has also prepared me for the outside world.
