Previously a secondary school teacher of Design Technology and Art, Carol joined the Centre for HCID in October 2015 to study an MSc in Human-Centred Systems, which she completed with a Distinction.

Following the MSc, she was awarded a Collaborative Doctoral Award studentship by the Arts and Humanities Research Council (AHRC) to pursue a PhD in Human-Computer Interaction. Supervised by Stephann Makri and Andrew MacFarlane at City, and Ian Cooke and Stella Wisdom at the British Library, she works between the two institutions on this collaborative research project.

Carol's research investigates the complex dynamics that influence how fiction authors and readers interact online.
