Sir Peter Hendy
Sir Peter Hendy was given an Award of Doctor of Science honoris causa by City in 2010.
TfL was created in 2000 and is the integrated body responsible for the UK capital's transport system.
Sir Peter was appointed Commissioner of Transport for London (TfL) on February 1st 2006, and oversees one of the world's largest multi-modal transport authorities.
Formerly TfL's Managing Director of Surface Transport, the Deputy Director for FirstGroup and Managing Director of CentreWest London Buses, Sir Peter began his career as a London Transport graduate trainee. He led the preparations and successful operation of London transport during the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Sir Peter was appointed Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE) in the 2006 New Years Honours for his work in keeping public transport in London running during the 7 July 2005 bombings. He was knighted for services to transport and the community in the 2013 New Year Honours.
