Alderman Nick Anstee

Alderman Nick Anstee was given an Award of Doctor of Science honoris causa by City in 2010.

Alderman Nick Anstee qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1982 and worked for a number of banks before becoming a partner at Arthur Andersen in 1994. Following periods spent at both Deloitte and Touche, he is now a Senior Director of the international law firm SJ Berwin.

In 1996, Anstee was elected Alderman for the Ward of Aldersgate, having represented that ward as a Common Councilman since 1987. He took office as the 682nd Lord Mayor of the City of London on Friday 13 November 2009, after a term as the Sheriff of the City of London in 2003/4. During his time as Lord Mayor Nick Anstee served as the Chancellor of this university.

As Lord Mayor he promoted the Square Mile as the world's leading international financial and business centre and his project sponsored the spread of financial literacy.
