Renewable Energy and Power Systems Management

'I was working full-time whilst studying towards an MSc at City University London so found it challenging at times but very rewarding.'

Where are you from?

I am from Caerphilly, Wales.

What course are you studying?

I was studying MSc Renewable Energy & Power Systems Management and graduated in January 2013 with Distinction.

What was your favourite aspect of your course?

The combination of technical and theoretical modules; there was a good balance including modules in Sustainability/Energy Management to Control and Systems Modelling.

What was the highlight of your time at City, University of London?

I enjoyed the whole course - I was working full-time whilst studying towards an MSc at City so I found it challenging at times but very rewarding. I enjoyed the technical modules the most and found everybody on the course helpful and friendly.

How did City prepare you for your chosen career path?

Without studying an MSc at City I wouldn't be in the role I am currently in or have the knowledge to develop the way I have. The course allowed me to learn the foundations of power systems and electricity supply, including in-depth knowledge of smart grids and UK and European legislation and initiatives.

What is your current job role?

I am currently working as an Asset Engineer in Asset Management at UK Power Networks.
