About

Overview

Barbara graduated from University of Sussex with a degree in English Literature. She gained a Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from the London College of Printing and went on to work as a reporter, presenter and editor in BBC radio. Her broadcast work includes reporting and producing for Mediumwave , The Learning Curve, You and Yours and Radio 1 Newsbeat. She also worked in the BBC TV Newsroom as a bulletin producer and editor and as editor of the radio news magazine, In The News, winner of a Sony Award.

As an associate of the independent production company, Partners in Sound, she produced series for BBC Radios 3 and 4, winning the BT Technology Award for a series on Music and Science Fiction.

Between 2009 and 2012, Barbara was lead consultant on the MediaPro initiative for the British Council in Vietnam, devising a journalism curriculum for leading universities and overseeing the revision of the country’s Journalism Code of Ethics.

She is a Senior Lecturer in Journalism at City and specialises in broadcast journalism, aspects of the British media and initiatives on graduate employability.
