Angela Jackman appointed Honorary Queen’s Counsel
Angela Jackman has been appointed by Her Majesty the Queen as an Honorary Queen’s Counsel (QC Honoris Causa).
The City Law School Senior Lecturer and Partner at Simpson Millar law firm has promoted the legal rights of vulnerable or disadvantaged adults and children through her work.
She specialises in Mental Capacity, Education and Public Law.
The title of Honorary QC is awarded to persons who have made a major contribution to the law of England and Wales, outside practice in the courts. Angela is among six recipients of this professional distinction for 2020.
Legal rights of minorities
Angela is “delighted to have been appointed as Honorary QC alongside so many inspirational lawyers”.
She is an expert in education law, demonstrated through her practitioners’ text, “Practical Education Law”, published by the Law Society in 2005, and has a particular interest in promoting and securing the legal rights of minorities.
Angela shares her knowledge via training and updates on education law in the Legal Action Group’s magazine Legal Action, and frequently speaks at public events. She regularly informs government law and policy with expert responses to consultations, is a member of the Law Society’s Human Rights Committee, and is an expert panel member of the Strategic Legal Fund for Vulnerable Young Migrants.
