Academics in City’s School of Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering (SMCSE) have secured a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Action (MSCA) ITN research grant valued at €1.15m.

The funds, secured by Professor Manolis Gavaises (International Institute for Cavitation Research and Thermo-Fluids Research Centre), Dr Ioannis Karathanassis and Dr Foivos Koukouvinis as part of an overall €4,547,588 university research consortium grant), will facilitate the four-year project, titled, Experimentally Validated direct numerical simulation (DNS) and large eddy simulation (LES) Approaches for Fuel Injection, Mixing and Combustion of Dual-Fuel Engines.

The project will be coordinated by City, and, together with 10 other European and wider international institutions, will train 15 PhD students between 2019 and 2023.
