Successful female leaders: Understanding the motivations and context

International Women’s Day event at Cass explores female leadership

The Cass Global Women’s Leadership Programme hosted an International Women’s Day panel event on Wednesday 13th March which examined the concept of Successful female leaders: Understanding the motivations and context.

The panel was moderated by Erin Walsh, Executive MBA Coca-Cola Global Women’s Leadership Scholar.  It featured male and female leaders from a range of sectors reflecting on definitions of success, personal and organisational barriers to progression for female leaders, and what the Programme can offer in the future to support Cass women.

The panel members were:

  • Jane Duncan – Director of Jane Duncan Architects and former President of Royal Institute of British Architects;
  • Michael Cole-Fontayn – Chairman of Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment, Chairman of the Association of Financial Markets in Europe, founding Chairman the 30% Club;
  • Magda Piatkowska - Head of Data Science Solutions at BBC News and Cass Executive MBA student;
  • Nathan Roberts – Chief Executive Officer, A Band of Brothers;
  • Niki Scordi - Chief Executive Officer, Advance Charity;
  • Wendi Lai - Founder of Lonbrella and Cass MSc Entrepreneurship alumna.

Speaking at the event, Professor Marianne Lewis, Dean of Cass Business School said events like this were a key part of the Cass community.

“Events like this encourage us to ask challenging questions, examine important issues and provide the Cass community, and beyond, the opportunity to learn first-hand from high profile individuals at the very top of their professions.”
