City hosts Industrial Engagement Day on April 17th
The School of Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering (SMCSE) hosts its Industrial Engagement Day on April 17th 2019.
The event brings together academics, key STEM industry figures, and Innovate UK, to discuss the grand challenges facing the UK such as Clean Growth, the Future of Mobility, an Ageing Society and Artificial Intelligence.
The Industrial Engagement Day, takes place in B200 (University Building) and will feature speakers from Innovate UK, Chris White (King's College London), Roger McKinlay (UKRI), Rob Whitehead (Future Cities Catapult), Andy Harrison (Rolls Royce), Steve McKechnie (Arup), Matt Askill (Brecknell Willis), Dr Greg Slabaugh (Huawei), and Jim Fairbairn (Megger)
SMCSE Dean, Professor Rajkumar Roy, will give the welcome address.
City academics Professor Panicos Kyriacou, Dr Eduardo Alonso, Professor Ken Grattan, and Professor Rajarajan Muttukrishnan will give presentations on Excellence in SMCSE Research, Machine Learning, Photonics, and Cyber Security, respectively.
The event will also point participants in the right directions to access Industrial Strategy Challenge Funding (ISCF).
The Industrial Engagement Day offers an opportunity to find out more about the UK's Industrial Strategy and network with new and existing academic, government and industrial partners. There will be exhibition stands showing joint projects involving City and industry, together with City Engineering and Computer Science lab tours.
