Professor Feng Li has been conferred the Award of  Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences (AcSS) after an extensive peer-review process of his work in establishing digital business (e-Business) as an explicit emerging new field of research.

Alongside 42 other leading social scientists, also chosen for the excellence and impact of their work, Professor Li joins the academy’s 1,100 Fellows, including academics, practitioners and policymakers.

“I am delighted to be conferred Fellow of the Academy of Social Sciences alongside some of the most distinguishing social scientists.  The mission of the Academy is to promote social sciences for the public benefit, which aligns very closely with our impact agenda.  I am a strong believer that business management research should inform and influence business practice and public policy, and the Academy offers a highly visible platform for this,” he said.

Over the years, Professor Li’s research has consistently attracted substantial external research funding from the Research Councils (ESRC/EPSRC), Innovate UK, Wellcome Trust and the Private sectors.

In addition to using digital business innovations to deliver business results, he is particularly interested in using digital innovations to help address significant societal challenges by using financially sustainable and operationally scalable approaches.  His research findings have been extensively reported by media outlets including Management Today, CEO Today, Forbes, Wired, Computer Weekly, and the Financial Times, and he has also appeared as an expert on BBC and ITV News.

“It’s a great honour for my work to be recognised by the Academy.  It will offer an effective new platform for me to work with some of the most distinguished social scientists to disseminate our research and more importantly, to use our research to inform and influence policy and business practice for the benefit of our society. I hope the Fellowship will further facilitate my engagements with business leaders and policy makers in generating real world impact through my research,” Professor Li said.
