Making the case
He argued that the UK can achieve full employment without inflation while at the same time leading the efforts to combat climate change, improve socio-economic inclusion, and boost quality of life for all members of society (including full funding for NHS).
Building upon a modern monetary theory analysis of the UK economy, Dr Kaboub's talk demonstrated that the UK government is not financially constrained in its capacity to offer a job with decent pay and benefits to everyone ready, willing and able to work.
His analysis also addressed the major risks that are often feared from a job guarantee program (for example inflation, currency devaluation, budget deficits, national debt, corruption, bureaucracy and lack of productivity).
The presentation concluded by showing that a decentralised job creation system that focuses on the care economy and green jobs is not only desirable and affordable, but is also inevitable in the 21st century.
