Professor of Biomedical Engineering and Director of City's Biomedical Engineering Research Group (BERG), Professor Panicos Kyriacou, has been awarded US$150k through the competitive Samsung Global Research Outreach (GRO) programme award.

He will be working with the Samsung mobile healthcare research team in the development of novel non-invasive optical sensors for physiological monitoring.

World-class researchers

The SAMSUNG Global Research Outreach (GRO) programme has become an important aspect of Samsung's academic research engagement and collaboration activities.

Since 2009, world-class university researchers have been invited to propose novel research ideas and to work with the Samsung R&D teams to foster technological innovation. This has resulted in collaborative work with over a hundred leading universities worldwide.

City is the most recent university to have joined the GRO programme, which is operated by SAIT (Samsung Advanced Institute of Technology).
