“I feel very honoured and humbled to be recognised by WCIB for my dissertation regarding shareholder activism. Whilst recently the investing community has been a bit preoccupied by politics on both sides of the Atlantic, the role of activist shareholders remains a significant issue for all stakeholders of publicly traded companies. I look forward to representing Cass Business School in the next stage of WCIB's Lombard Prize competition and hopefully continuing Cass' recent success, not to mention the opportunity to meet more members of the WCIB community.”

Omiros Sairkas, WCIB Liveryman and fellow Cass alumni, said:

“WCIB is a Livery Company with a distinguished international membership.  We are particularly proud to award the WCIB Cass Prize to Doug, an American MBA graduate, and wish him best of luck in his City career.”

Thomas Newman, WCIB Liveryman and Court Assistant, said:

"The WCIB values the long relationship with Cass Business School and is proud to be able to award the WCIB prize to Douglas Markey for his dissertation.”

Douglas will also qualify to participate in the annual WCIB Lombard Prize competition, which was won by Cass alumnus Pearce Watson in 2015.
