City University London hosted its first CityStarters Weekend.

The weekend, hosted at Cass Business School saw over one hundred postgraduate students participate in the three-day long event.

Budding entrepreneurs pitched their start-up ideas, and overall, 26 business ideas were proposed and voted on, with the top 15 going to the next stage. Next, participants formed teams to work on turning their ideas into a reality.

In the end, the CityStarters Weekend produced 14 viable business pitches, each with a chance of winning £10,000 in cash prizes sponsored by Santander.

Over the course of the weekend, participants could call on the expertise of 21 entrepreneur-mentors who were available to support teams and lend a helping a hand. There were also talks given by five inspiring entrepreneurs, such as alumni Lisa Sohanpal from Mini nom noms, and Keith Abel from Abel&Cole.

Caroline Wiertz, Associate Dean of Entrepreneurship Programmes at Cass Business School said, "CityStarters Weekend is a great way to start the new academic year with a bang, and I’m amazed by the energy, commitment, and talent of our student entrepreneurs.
