City’s Cloud Security researcher wins Best Paper Award
“A survey of intrusion detection techniques in Cloud”, co-authored by City’s Professor of Security Engineering, Professor Muttukrishnan Rajarajan and published in the Journal of Network and Computer Applications (JNCA), was selected for the 2015 Best Paper Award.

In the paper, the researchers survey a variety of intrusions affecting the availability, confidentiality and integrity of Cloud resources and services.The paper examines proposals incorporating Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS) in the Cloud and discusses various types and techniques of IDS and Intrusion Prevention Systems (IPS), and recommends IDS/IPS positioning within the Cloud's architecture to achieve desired security in the next generation networks. In September 2015, Professor Rajarajan co-hosted an International Workshop on Cloud and Big Data Security in Singapore alongside co-sponsors, Nanyang Technological University, the UK’s Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) and the US Office of Naval Research.
Professor Rajarajan’s paper is also ranked fourth among Elsevier Publishing’s most downloaded papers.
