City engineering academic off to Poland
City University London Professor of Structural Dynamics, Professor Ranjan Banerjee has been invited to the prestigious Warsaw University of Technology in Poland as a Visiting Professor, from 15th May to 15th June.
While in Poland, Professor Banerjee, a Fellow of the Institution of Structural Engineers, will deliver a lecture titled, “Static, Dynamic and Aeroelastic Analysis of Aircraft and other Structures”. Giving insights into his extensive research, he will also present a seminar on, “Some aspects of research in Structural Dynamics and Aeroelasticity at City University London”.
Earlier this year, Professor Banerjee received the 2015 Hind Rattan Award, which recognises outstanding contribution in the recipient's field of research and is granted annually to 25 non-resident Indians (NRIs) worldwide by the NRI Welfare Society of India, an organisation operating under the umbrella of the Indian Government. Reflecting on the invitation from the Warsaw University of Technology, Professor Banerjee, who is also a Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society (FRAeS), said:
“I am pleased and honoured to have been invited to Warsaw by such an esteemed institution dedicated to scientific and technological advancement. I look forward to sharing my expertise and skills with students and academics there and to being an ambassador for City.”
Aeroelasticity is concerned with the interactions between fluids and structures on flexible lifting surfaces such as bird wings, air vehicle wings, helicopters and wind turbine blades.
