The Coca-Cola Foundation pledges $528,000 for Cass undergraduates

The Coca-Cola Foundation launches a new undergraduate scholarship for Cass Business School students.

Cass Business School, City University London, is launching a new $528,000 undergraduate scholarship aided by support from The Coca-Cola Foundation which has been made possible by a grant from Friends of City University (London), Inc.

The scholarship, known as The Coca-Cola Scholars Programme, will offer eight students fully-funded places across Cass's highly-ranked business, management and finance degrees.

Under the programme, four UK and four international students will receive full tuition fees together with a living allowance.

Vice Chancellor of City University London, Professor Paul Curran, said: "We welcome the generous contribution of The Coca-Cola Foundation to our task of recruiting outstanding students from both home and abroad. This further supports our ambition to be a leading global university, positioned among the top two per cent of universities in the world."

Cass Dean, Professor Steve Haberman, said: "We are delighted to have connected with one of the world's most respected brands to help talented students continue their education and kick-start their careers. This will be among the largest and most generous of our scholarship awards. We are pleased to welcome The Coca-Cola Foundation as a donor to our 10th anniversary appeal."

Cass Director of Development & External Relations, Paola Barbarino, said: "Cass and The Coca-Cola Foundation share a belief in the importance and value of higher education. We are delighted that the Trustees of the Foundation have chosen to invest in our undergraduates at this time. Securing such significant funding from the Foundation, one of their largest grants, is a testament the Trustees' belief in the excellence of our graduates."

Eight Coca-Cola Scholars will be chosen from the most able undergraduate applicants in 2013. Applications for the scholarship will open in March.

Muhtar Kent, Chairman and CEO of the Coca Cola Company, is a Cass Business School alumnus. He was awarded an honorary doctorate from City University London last year.

The Guardian's Good University Guide 2013 ranked Cass first in London and second in the UK for business, management and finance degrees.
