Music student's opera performed at Tête a Tête Opera Festival

Mario Ferraro, a City University London PhD student, had his opera The Moonflower premiered during the Tête à Tête Opera Festival at Riverside Studios, London, in August.

The chamber opera, described as a fusion of contemporary opera, theatre, circus and video art, was inspired by the lives of Margaret Mee, a British botanist and explorer, and Chico Mendes, a Brazilian environmentalist and activist. It drew on the sounds of Mario's childhood in the interior of Brazil.

Mario is researching contemporary opera for his PhD at City's Centre for Music Studies and first presented his opera at City's Performance Space in June.

More information is available at Mario Ferraro's own site.
